Big smile indeed. As usual thanks to Guest123 for providing the link.

Download an application called Youtube Downloader. Then you just copy paste links from Youtube.

Revolution 1.04 'The Plague Dogs' - Tracy Spiridakos [HD 1080p]
1080p upgrades continue! This is MUCH more clean cut than my original 720p edit of this last year (which I think was only my second or third attempt at editing), but this still isn't QUITE as clean as Sam's 720p edit, d/t a few extra seconds here of the villain talking. This was also by far the most time I've spent editing a clip. Took me about an hour and a half. It was my favourite TV scene of 2012 though!

Which is why the allure of 1080p is often negated by smaller monitors or not-quite-perfect codec settings (CoreAVC running on my rig has been tweaked to perfection for years).

Even though the res and bitrate are by default much larger than 720p, that tends to mean squat if one doesn't have a large monitor to appreciate it all. Even the vid quality in terms of sharpness can often be negligible, which is why I long ago deemed the additional 2x filesize not to be worth it. As such, I only post 1080p as a last resort--mainly for movies which don't have 720p available for whatever reason.

By all means keep up the good work, though! I'm sure there's "gap in the market" which will cater for those with huge monitors. ;-) Plus, more links of the same scenes to go around is a GOOD thing, considering how many of my Sendspace ones get zapped after only a month.

Yeah I agree that there's probably only a small number of people who prefer these 1080p clips, and I agree that the quality improvement is fairly small for TV episodes. It's more noticeable with a 15 GB movie rip though.

But the main reason I prefer them is (1) I notice the quality difference with screencaptures, which I enjoy even more than the video quite often, and (2) I expect to hook up a computer to my TV in the very near future, and the difference is definitely more noticeable in that instance. Plus I recently bought a 3 TB USB 3.0 HD, so space isn't an issue :)

Absolutely. For archival purposes it's the way forward. In the past decade we've gone from postage stamp quality ASF/WMV/RM/MOV, to high-quality AVI, standard-def MPG, high-def MKV 720p, and now 1080p. It's all good progress, and having increasingly more detail on a damsel's gagged face is never a bad thing. ;-)

It was that reason why I was harping on about lossless 480i/480p/576i/576p MPEG-2 rips a few years ago, but editing that format is almost as annoying as H.264 at the best of times. And who knows, in some years' time I might regret not making the switch to 1080p sooner, but right now I'm willing take that chance and pass up on the temptation. Just keep your edits handy in case I ever do "see the light", lol.

Haha my collection will exist up until the moment my harddrive crashes from overuse lol.

Yea it's crazy the improvements in the last decade. Anything less than SD is basically unwatchable to me now (and even including SD). But as much as I'm trying to 'future-proof' my collection in 1080p as much as possible, it's a never-ending battle. If 4k resolution becomes standard in the next 4-5 years, I'll want to make the jump to that, as well. I'm sure you won't regret skipping 1080p and just moving onto the next level eventually instead.

Nice teaser clip, this will be a long one with plenty of scene time. Glad they expanded it to 2 hours. She should be B&G for a long time.
