I guess that they wanted to reflect the look of real police officers and policewomen who were working in prisons in those days , as you know most of them especially in the 70's and 80's weren't eye candies and they may not even put on makeups and the likes when on duty due to the nature of their work so I guess they wanted to go as real as possible , However Elspeth Ballantyne is good looking despite her age but they made her rather unattractive with that very short hair |
