This page is for posting links to online streaming video, Youtube and things like that. The rules are somewhat looser than Discussion. You can post and discuss mainstream and related amateur video. Do not post clips from commercial videos. It's usually not that hard to tell the difference.

Thought this may help some
If you're having problems with mkv files on windows 7 64 bit (I couldnt get the K Lite Pack and MPC to work), this is what you need:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/matroska_pack.htm

Download the full version and mkvs works fine in Windows Media Player.

Yeah if you download Realplayer then you should be given the ability in most internet browsers (firefox, safari, chrome) to simply hover over the video with your mouse and then be given the option to "download video."

Good thing for pointing that out. I still use XP, so I can't really speak for those using Vista or 7. There's also the hugely complicated ffdshow decoder thingy, which I wouldn't recommend to anyone around here because it needs far too much tweaking to work properly (so even I can't be bothered with it). There are a few who say ffdshow is better than a codec pack, but I haven't had too many troubles with the latter.

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack does include ffdshow, but gives you the option to disable it (which I, too, recommend).

I use ffdshow, but installing it as a standalone package (as opposed to a codec pack which does all the tweaking for you) was a nightmare for me. Too many switches and boxes to check/uncheck, and getting something as simple as an Xvid or Quicktime file to work was ridiculously difficult when I tried it. Therefore, K-Lite + QT Lite + Real Alternative works best for me. That way I can play MOV and RM files without using those outdated, bloated players.

One more questions, how can I crop with xvid without re-encoding?

You can't. If you're making physical changes to an Xvid video stream, such as cropping or changing dimensions, a re-encode is the only way to do it. Just make sure when doing so that you keep the bitrate roughly the same as the original (perhaps 100kb/s lower at best). That way the loss in quality will be minimal.
