| Sadly, due to the events of September 11, 2001 this version is rarely broadcast any more, a situation not likely to change even after the new remake is released in a couple of months. Therefore, even though its scenes are really of the "for completists only" category, some of you who don't have them may want to take this chance to grab them. After all, it was Jessica Lange's film debut, and although it doesn't show much here, the gal did turn out to have some talent. Check out her Best Actress Oscar-nominated work in Frances if you're skeptical about that. |

Record number: 1173 Title: King Kong (1976) Medium: Movie Actress: Jessica Lange Description: Rather disappointing remake, with Lange much more loosely tied to the posts with vines than Fay Wray was-in fact, it seems she'd have had little trouble slipping out of them in reality. They are wrapped around her arms near the elbows, and aren't winched up as in the original. Owing to the improved technology available for this version, however, there are many more and longer shots of Lange in the ape's hand, where she screams and struggles (and delivers some of the most sarcastic dialogue imaginable). The abduction scene is about 50 minutes into the film. About an hour later, after Kong has been brought to America, the scene is re-enacted for a large crowd, with Lange tied just as loosely with silver garlands. |

Record number: 11592 Title: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit aka Law & Order: SVU Medium: TV Series Actress: Betsy Beutler Description: Episode: "Demons" (7.1) A serial rapist is preying on young women. About 40 minutes in with commercials, just before the end of the third act, the bad guy shows good-guy Stabler (who has gone undercover as a fellow sex offender) his latest catch. We see Beutler in the back of his van, wearing street clothes, gagged and bound hand and foot (hands in front) with duct tape. Shortly after the break, Stabler lifts her out of the van, slings her over his shoulder, and puts her down on a mattress. After convincing the bad guy to give him some privacy, he quietly explains to her that he's a cop but that she needs to play along and pretend that he's hurting her. He frees her legs, removes her gag -- she screams obligingly -- and tells her to run. The bad guy gets the drop on Stabler, but Beutler escapes successfully, to be seen a bit later running up to the other cops with her hands still taped. |

Record number: 1433 Title: With Murder In Mind (1992) aka With Savage Intent Medium: TV Movie Actress: Elizabeth Montgomery, Mary Ann Hagan Description: In a dramatization of a true story, a drug dealer (IIRC) posing as a prospective property buyer ties up both women in the kitchen, cuffing their hands behind their backs, binding their ankles with white rope, and gagging both of them with stiff white napkins (Continuity problems give us a 2-for-1 cleave and overgag sequence). You don't see any tying on screen, but you do see Hagan's gag being tied tightly. Both women struggle quite a bit on the kitchen floor. This sequence occurs early on (it may begin in the first fifteen minutes). Warning: Montgomery's character is shot after being taken up to a bedroom. Although she survives, she's shown painfully making her way afterwards to a telephone while still bound to try to call for help. |
