Record number: 414 Title: Head Above Water (1996) Medium: Movie Actress: Cameron Diaz Description: Remake of Hodet over vannet, the Norwegian original. The lovely but neurotic Nathalie (Diaz) has three separate scenes, all taking place in the last half hour. At 1hr 0mins, Nathalie is on a boat and gets knocked out by a punch from husband George. She is next shown 2mins later, lying unconscious on a couch; her hands are tied behind her back with black rope, feet tied together, and she is loosely OTM gagged with a cream-coloured floral print scarf. In several sequences over the next 5mins, she struggles and hops around the house to get a knife from a kitchen drawer. At one point George picks her up over his shoulder to carry her out of the house, but goes back inside and dumps her on the coach again. When he leaves, she uses the knife to cut her hands free and ungag herself onscreen, but after the scarf is pulled down, she spits out a lime which was used as mouth packing! The second scene begins at 1hr 11mins when Nathalie is recaptured by George and new friend Lance. They have her tied to a wooden chair with lots of rope all over her body (hands to armrests, noose around neck, feet together). George then whips out a pale blue cloth and tightly cleave gags her onscreen with it, prompting a helpless mmpphh. However, in the mother of all frustrations for DiD-fans, Lance suggests not to gag her. The cloth is removed from her mouth and again she is left alone. She remains tied to the chair for the next 4mins, during which she manages to tip it over in an energetic struggle and using a chisel to free herself offscreen. For a final time Nathalie winds up bound but not gagged, at 1hr 21mins, this time in mortal peril. George has strapped her to a rollerboard placed on a purpose-built wooden ramp, hands tied in front with rope, feet encased in cement within a metal tub, all on top of a platform above the water and shoreline. A pulley is rigged to send her plummeting into the sea below, but first she has to endure a drunken rant by George. In a stupor, he eventually falls off the platform instead, leaving Nathalie to figure out a way of escaping. Making seemingly clever use of a shotgun and a chainsaw to almost get free, she accidentally triggers the pulley mechanism which causes her to plunge into the sea. Cue a frantic struggle underwater where she reacts fast enough to snag the propeller of a police boat, which just about hauls her to safety at 1hr 27mins. |

Record number: 270 Title: Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991) Medium: Movie Actress: Tia Carrere Description: Minako (Carrere) is kidnapped by the bad guys at 55mins and for a while is led around a warehouse, unbound. Dolph Lundgren later discovers her at 1hr 9mins, tied to a petrol pump with rope (around her waist, hands behind back) and loosely cleave gagged with a pale red towel. Good mmpphhing. Within a minute, Dolph frees her just in time before the whole place blows up. Great close-ups and full-body views of Carrere, who wears a white tank top (with her nipples poking through nicely), thigh-length blue shorts (loose-fitting but showing off her sexy legs) and white flats. Record number: 1360 Title: The Glory Stompers (1967) Medium: Movie Actress: Chris Noel Description: Playing a biker's girlfriend who's been abducted by a rival gang. Rough 20mins in, after she's caught trying to run, she's shown bound hands behind. Freed so she can eat, she spurns Dennis Hopper's advances and is knocked cold by him. Then shown being rolled over on her stomach and hogtied on screen. Roughly 43mins in, she's bound wrist's in front by Hopper's girlfriend. She makes out with one of her captor guards with her hands bound in front-and contemplates reaching for a nearby crowbar (she doesn't) Roughly 1hr & 13mins in, she's shown sleeping bound wrists behind and ankles together. Brief hand-gagging and being led around by one of the baddies with her hands tied in back, as he tries to get her away from the gang to have his way with her. The gang finds out and there's a big fight with her making a run for it with her hands still bound behind her, just as her boyfriend and his cohorts come to the rescue. |

Record number: 12014 Title: Ties That Bind (2006) Medium: TV Movie Actress: Nicole de Boer aka Nikki De Boer aka Nicole DeBoer aka Nikki de Boer aka Nicole deBoer aka Nikki deBoer Description: This made-for-Lifetime movie is a cautionary tale about *not* renting your guest house to psycho/nurses. (Always a sound policy.) Nicole plays Megan, the lawyer/wife, & Brian Krause (Leo on "Charmed") plays the doctor/husband. Sonya Salomaa plays Courtney, the psycho/nurse. In the last 15 minutes, Megan (dressed casually in jeans, t-shirt, sweater, hoodie, & boots) goes to confront Courtney in the guest house. Courtney pulls a syringe and Megan fades to unconsciousness as the movie fades to commercial. When next we see Megan, it's a closeup of her face. Silver duct tape is tightly plastered to her lips. The camera pulls back, & we (& she) discover she is spreadeagled to Courtney's bed (fully clothed as before), in leather medical restraints. Much struggling and m'mmpfhing ensues, in one of the best gloating scenes I've seen in years. Courtney to Megan: "It's no use fighting. I use those to restrain PCP freakouts." No closeups of the restraints, but we can tell she's really helpless. Numerous closeups of her tape-gagged face, and we can see that the tape is well-adhered to her face. A small sliver of tape repeatedly balloons as she pants & tries to scream. VERY convincing Damsel-in-Distress. Meanwhile, Courtney-the-psycho nurse is delivering a chilling monologue. At one point, she climbs on the bed and rests her head on the same pillow as Megan, & the director gives us a dual closeup. Nicole does an *outstanding* job of selling Megan's plight. Courtney delivers a second injection, & again Megan fades into unconsciousness. Later, something strange but wonderful happens: When hubbie comes to rescue Megan, her bonds have been changed! It's still the same hospital restraints, but now her wrists are cuffed together and to her ankles, and an additional of pair are strapped now around her elbows! The elbow cuffs and ankle cuffs are strapped to the bed and the wrist/ankle junction is a double "Y" of straps joined with rings. (I believe this is called "four point restraint" by nurses (psycho and otherwise).) Hubbie rips off the tape and frees her wrists and elbows, then Megan does a crunch and frees her ankles. Then it's off to the climax! |
