Record number: 24707 Title: Abducted on Air (2020) aka The Lead Medium: TV Movie Actress: Kim Shaw Description: Lifetime film opens with reporter Sasha Bruder (Shaw) rehearsing a news report after hours, only to get a surprise handgag from a masked intruder. Some muffled shouts from Sasha as she tries to fight back, only to end up thrown to the floor and somehow knocked out, allowing her assailant to drag her away by her feet. After the title card, we see Sasha in some sort of abandoned building, blindfolded with a bandanna and cleave gagged with a black cloth (no arm restraints). Both, however, are quickly taken off by her captor, as we learn that Sasha has set up her "kidnapping" to boost her career and had her lover act as her "abductor". Some dialogue as Sasha has her boyfriend tied her hands behind her back with white rope, asking him "Did you bring the ties?" and instructing him to tighten the bonds. After some talk with boyfriend Aidan of how her scheme with help both their careers, she allows him to re-gag and re-blindfold her before leaving, giving us a view of her tied hands as he does. When Aidan checks up on Sasha later, we see she's freed herself off-screen of her bonds, her wrists visibly red and bloodied from her rope restraints. The scene ends with Sasha taking a sleeping pill Aidan gives her, and we later see her blindfolded and gagged before Aidan returns and takes them off. After deciding that now is the time to stage her "miraculous escape", we see bound, blindfolded, and gagged as she stands on a road. Some nice emoting and muffled screams as Sasha attracts the attention of a motorist before the scene cuts to Sasha in a hospital. We later see clips of Sasha getting handgagged when the footage of her initial "kidnapping" is viewed, and the film's final minutes having Sasha getting handcuffed and led away by police after she's exposed on live TV. No good shots of this bondage, though, unfortunately. In the final 30 minutes, her foster mother Sandy (Paul) is lured into investigating an open back door, leading her to get knocked out with chloroform by vengeful grandson Miles. Alexandra Paul's chloro scene occurs at approx 1:44 (w/ commercials); 1:02 w/o commercials. After tying her husband to a chair, Miles takes Sandy to his grandmother's house, where she is shown seated on a couch with her hands duct taped criss-crossed behind her while Miles calls Taylor, telling her to come to the house alone. During their wait, grandmother Marnie threatens to have Sandy gagged if she didn't behave, and has Miles do so with a short, wide, and loosely applied piece of duct tape when she attempts to talk sense into him. The onscreen gagging occurs at 1:10 w/o commercials, preceded by the evil grandmother's "Shut your mouth, whore. Gag her!". Some muffled gag talk as Miles prepares to shoot Sandy, but he's stopped when Taylor arrives just in time to meet their demands. Sandy's release happens off-screen after the police arrive, shortly after Miles decides not to go through with his grandmother's demands of killing Taylor. Dressed in a slip, Annabelle West (Lynley) is seated in a chair, her bare feet shackled to a bar secured to an eyebolt in the floor and her wrists shackled to the sides of the chair, gagged with a thin strip of white adhesive tape. The bad guys are about ready to dispatch the blonde cutie with knives when the hero comes to the rescue.
