Record number: 17206 Title: Hostages Medium: TV Series Actress: Quinn Shepherd, Toni Collette Description: Episode: "Invisible Leash" (1.2) Terrorists are holding Collette's family hostage, whereby they decide to up the pressure on her by displaying her husband, son and daughter (Shepherd) as ready for execution. At 6mins a hooded Collette is brought into the basement, and she is shown all three family members kneeling on the floor, hands tied behind their backs with black zipties, feet unbound, gagged with strips of duct tape, and blindfolded with black cloths. Lots of scared mmpphhing as she is forced to shoot one of them, but chooses not to. This lasts over a minute. We rejoin a minute later, with Collette shown via a laptop freeing everyone. They are then brought into the living room, with blindfolds (now including Collette) which are quickly removed. All over at 10mins. Lighting is murky, with a few close-ups of Shepherd interspersed between the two putzes; any full-body shots show all three of them. Shepherd wears a purple sweater and jeans, whilst Collette wears a cream coloured coat over a pink shirt and black trousers. |

She is taken to a warehouse with her wrists tied in front of her and tortured a bit (off screen) to convince her to pay. She is then released in hopes that she’ll pay off. Toni has her wrists ziptied in front of her and is dumped in the trunk of a car for a trip into the woods. Once there, she is cut free so that she can be forced to dig a grave. Lesson learned, her captor doesn’t dump her into the hole. |

Record number: 17205 Title: Hostages Medium: TV Series Actress: Nina Arianda Description: Episode: Sister’s Keeper (1.06) Approx 45 minutes into the episode, Nina, who is playing the sister of the hostage husband, finally figures out that there is something weird going on in the house. This gets her tied to a chair, duct tape gagged and blindfolded with a little thin piece of black cloth, which does manage to get itself rearranged into a reasonable width after a change of camera angle. Rather than just killing her, or adding her into the pool of hostages, the writers decide to have the men in white coats come and take her away, trying to convince her that she hallucinated the whole thing. Alternate scene description from a less critical point of view: At 35mins (sans commercials) guest star Arianda is grabbed and forced to sit on a chair whilst her onscreen sister Toni Collette watches in shock; Arianda's hands are bound behind the chair with a black ziptie, ankles ziptied to the chair legs, and we can hear her (off-camera) being gagged with a strip of duct tape, and finally a thin black cloth tied over her eyes. She is terrified and mmpphhs lot, after which she is left to struggle in the chair for a few seconds whilst Collette and her captor go outside for some improptu shooting practice. We rejoin at 38mins, with Arianda still sitting on the chair and mmpphhing/sobbing in the background whilst a bunch of dialogue takes place amongst the regular stars of the show. About a minute later her captor rips off the tape from her mouth and cuts her zipties free. |

Record number: 7949 Title: The Transporter (2002) Medium: Movie Actress: Qi Shu aka Shu Qi Description: About 17 minutes into the movie the transporter hears a lot of mmmphing from the trunk (aka boot) of his car. A few moments later he opens the trunk and Qi Shu's tape gagged face pokes out, the rest of her body in a bag. He puts a small hole in the tape so that Qi Shu can drink through a straw. When he takes out a knife for making the hole in the tape there is a lot of mmphhing. At about 19 minutes she is let out of the bag and untied so she can go to pee (she had pointed out that she would have to do so in his car otherwise). She reaches to take the tape off her mouth but the transporter says "do you need your mouth to pee?" so she leaves it on. She escapes, he follows and recaptures her, puts the tape back over her mouth, ties her wrists in front and carries her over his shoulder to the car at about 22 minutes. He then delivers her to the mansion of a Crime Lord and we see the large sports type bag being taken from the car. He is given another delivery to make, but it turns out to be a time bomb, presumably intended to ensure his silence. By luck he survives and returns to seek vengeance. At about 32 minutes Qi Shu is shown tied to an office type chair, on wheels, hands behind, ankles together with rope and tape gagged. Some struggling and she propels the chair to the door when her guard leaves to investigate the commotion. The transporter disposes of the guards but finds that the Crime Lord has left. He leaves in a stolen car and at 34 minutes we see that she is on the back seat of the car, still tied to the chair. In irritated response to her mmphhing he takes her out of the car and drives off leaving her still tied to the chair in the middle of the road. Good views of her tied feet and alarmed look on her face, as he relents and reverses back rapidly, when she thinks he is intending to run her over. Still on the chair, she is placed in the trunk for the remainder of the journey. At about 36 minutes they arrive at the transporter's house, he wheels her in still tied to the chair. He asks her a few questions and re-gags her twice when the answers are more than just what he wants to hear, nice mmpphing then. Decent length scenes. At about 37 minutes he cuts her free and she is seen rubbing her ankles. He says he needs sleep and tells her she can go; she decides to stay as she needs his help. Perhaps some may like the gesture the next morning when she has made breakfast for him and is talking he says "I like it quiet in the morning". She agrees and starts telling about her liking for quiet, then realises she should stop talking and makes a 'zipping-up' gesture with her finger across her mouth, at about 43 minutes (times for a 1 hour 45 minute broadcast with adverts). One good detail to add at the end would be that Lai(Shu Qi) keeps her mouth duct taped an extra 19-20 seconds after the guy unties her. The tape was still on her mouth while she was rubbing her ankles and she didn't take it off until the hero left her in the kitchen and started walking away which led her to finally rip the tape off and ask "Where are you going?" |

Record number: 16938 Title: Penthouse North (2013) aka Blindsided Medium: Movie Actress: Michelle Monaghan Description: At 21mins, Monaghan is attacked in her penthouse by crooks looking for diamonds. She sits on a bed with her hands behind her head and to a bedpost with neckties. She endures getting a creepy sponge bath from one of her captors before agreeing to help him look for the diamonds, and being freed. Lasts for 4mins. She then escapes, but at 34mins is recaptured and pulled back into an elevator with a forearm covering her mouth in a brief sequence. 20mins later she is seen in a closet with her hands tied behind her back. She stays there for a couple of minutes and then she is taken (still tied) to the living room. Untied at 59mins. At the 1hr mark she is bound to a grand piano by Michael Keaton with duct tape (hands in front, feet together), gagged over-the-nose/OTN with a towel and water boarded, in an unusually realistic scene. This lasts 2mins, before it is interrupted by the doorbell ringing. All times from a clean, commercial-free showing. |
