Record number: 17158 Title: Sinister (2012) Medium: Movie Actress: Juliet Rylance, Rachel Konstantin, Lorraine Aceves, unknowns Description: The beginning of the movie shows four people, the Stevensons, standing in a row with sacks over their heads, hangman's nooses around their necks, and their arms bound behind them. They are standing on a lawn next to a large tree. The nooses' lines are thrown over one branch, and tied to another limb of the tree. That limb breaks and falls, pulling the four up, legs kicking frantically until they stop. The four people are a family: mom (Rachel Konstantin), dad, son, and daughter (unknown actress). This scene is repeated at about 15 min., when Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) is watching the first of five home movies on 8mm film, and again at 16 min., when he watches it the second time around after getting half sloshed. The scene is shown again on his laptop at about 50 min. You see it again at 68 min. and at 97 min. At 20 min., Ellison is watching another 8mm home movie that switches over from a wholesome scene to a car all wrapped in chains. The car appears to be inside a garage; it is all dark, and the only light appears to come from a flashlight pointed in the direction the camera is pointing. Inside the car, you see a woman (Lorraine Aceves) in a red dress on the backseat, unconscious, with duct tape around her thighs, around her wrists in front of her, and over her mouth and around her head. In the leg well next to her you see someone's legs also bound in duct tape, and on top of the legs a large red can with the word "FLAMMABLE" on it. The camera moves on to eventually show the front of the car. A few seconds later, a lit match is thrown on the car, and it bursts into flames. At 27 min., another 8mm home movie, this time showing a nighttime view of a pool, where there are a row of four sunloungers, each with a rope attached to it, each with a cement block tied to it, and each with someone duct-taped to it. The camera angle is such that you can only see the tops of their heads, but as they are pulled into the pool one by one, you can see that the third person pulled in is wearing a blue bikini and has a female form (unknown actress). Blink and you'll miss it. One later finds out that two of the other forms are those of little girls (both unknown). At 33 min., another 8mm home movie, where the cameraman/killer is moving around in a home. He enters the master bedroom, where a man and a woman are tied to a bed with brown tape, brown tape around their wrists in front of them, and brown tape over their mouths. You see the killer put a knife to the man's throat, then see the reflection off Ellison's glasses of the throat being cut. The same is done to the woman. You catch another glimpse of the woman's bound wrists while Ellison is looking at a reply on his laptop. At 100 min., Tracy Oswalt (Juliet Rylance) is seen lying on the floor with her arms duct-taped behind her back and her ankles duct-taped together. |

Record number: 12424 Title: Bat Masterson Medium: TV Series Actress: Peggy Knudsen Description: Episode: "A Personal Matter" (1.16) Pretty blonde Louisa Carey (Knudsen), the girlfriend of gang leader Bailey Harper (Alan Hale Jr. - the Skipper himself) becomes angry when the outlaw refuses to meet Bat Masterson without his gang backing him up and rides from his hideout back to town. (Harper, et al, had stolen Masterson's money, horse and gun earlier in the episode and Bat wanted revenge.) That night Bat meets Louisa in town and their embrace is promptly reported to Bailey who rides after Bat and Louisa in a fury. About the 21 minute mark (no commercials) we see Bat riding down the trail leading Louisa's horse. Louisa's wrists are apparently tied in front and to her saddle's pommel. Bat leaves her still bound in the woods, tells her he'll be back and sets an ambush for Harper. We briefly see Louisa struggle in bonds. She is never gagged. In the last scene, after Bat locks Harper in jail, Louisa, now free, asks Bat why he tied her up and Bat replies he didn't want her to ride away. The pair agree to meet in Phoenix. |

Record number: 8350 Title: The Nevadan (1950) Medium: Movie Actress: Dorothy Malone Description: Dorothy Malone has her wrists bound to her saddlehorn by one of her captors. While riding, she makes a break from him, and escapes. Shortly after she's shown being released from her bonds. The version I've seen (on TNT) never shows her gagged, but Allen Marburger's listings mention one, with the caveat that this may be missing from "prints shown on the airwaves". I'm not certain whether the gagged imagery was cut from the sequence described above, or wholly separate from it. My old notes have what I saw coming in around the 65' mark, but I'm unsure if that refers to a two-hour airing. In any event it's not early in the film. Update: I saw an AMC airing today (5/16/03) that had no gagged scene as well; at least not as part of the above sequence. If the film began on time, what was shown came in around the 75' mark (without commercials - around the 57' mark). From Marburger's description, I'd have to assume there was just the one sequence, during part of which Ms. Malone was gagged, as he describes her being bound on horseback as detailed above. |

Record number: 1513 Title: Another Day in Paradise (1998) Medium: Movie Actress: Karen Sheperd Description: At 1hr 22mins, Sheperd is shown in a room where a fight between some guys is taking place. As she struggles on a bed, we see that her hands are bound behind with duct tape, she is gagged with a strip of tape, whilst her bare feet are unbound. After a minute of mmpphhing in the background, the tape is peeled off her mouth by Melanie Griffith, albeit with some difficulty ("Keep still, goddammit!") Just after the tape is peeled off, we get a brief glimpse of what looks like band-aid on the sticky side; obviously a prop to protect the actress's lips. Griffith then leads her away at gunpoint into another room for another minute, after which she is brought back in, then shot in the head (onscreen) by one of Griffith's male accomplices at 1hr 25mins. The whole scene is well-lit, with full-body and close-up views aplenty. Sheperd wears a very skimpy brown minidress, and we get a nice upskirt shot of her brown panties from behind when she tries to escape by "knee walking". Unfortunately, her aforementioned demise happens within seconds after that. |

Record number: 17054 Title: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit aka Law & Order: SVU Medium: TV Series Actress: Mariska Hargitay Description: Episode: Surrender Benson (15.01) Having been ambushed as she walked into her apartment in the season 14 cliffhanger ending, season 15 opens with Det. Benson (Mariska) suffering in a tipped-over chair. Her wrists are handcuffed behind her back, and her ankles are duct taped to the chair legs. She is also gagged with duct tape. Her captor rights the chair, and removed her gag so that her can pour some whiskey down her throat. A particularly nasty back-and-forth follows, which culminates in him knocking her out with a pistol whipping. At 13mins into the episode, she is laying stretched out on the back seat of a car, still tape gagged. She is ungagged long enough for him to pour vodka down her throat, and then regagged. He throws a blanket over her as the drive continues. The car is pulled over by a rookie cop at 17mins, but by the time he spots Benson in the back seat, the killer is ready to kill him with his own gun. The drive then continues until the captor finds a beach shack, where he stretches her out on the old-fashioned iron bed at 20mins. Her wrists are still in the handcuffs, and her legs are now duct taped together. His attempt at rape is interrupted when somebody comes to the door at 25mins, which gives Benson time to break one of the iron bars on the bed off, allowing her to get up, and providing a weapon for her to use on him. She swings the bar like a baseball bat with her still handcuffed hands, and knocks him out at 30mins. |

Record number: 12928 Title: Burn Notice Medium: TV Series Actress: Rachel Yeager, unknown Description: Episode: "Hard Bargain" (1.09) Blonde hottie Yeager is first shown on a short video tape at 13mins, pleading with her boyfriend to come up with ransom money for her release. A blue cloth can be seen hanging from her neck, but it is not clear if she's bound in any way. At 31mins, Yeager is briefly shown through a window; she is lying on a bed, blindfolded with a thick red cloth, and cleave gagged with the aforementioned blue cloth. About 3mins later, Gabrielle Anwar and a male accomplice storm the hideout where she's being held by a male and female captor. After some frightened mmpphhing, she is ungagged and unblindfolded by Anwar, who says "You're safe, I'm gonna untie you", even though she appears to be completely unbound. Yeager is barefoot, wearing a pale blue tanktop and leggy white shorts. 2mins later, both captors have had the tables turned on them; the unnamed female captor, a Latin brunette who now has a bloody nose from the earlier punch-up with Anwar, is seated on the floor against the bed, wrists bound upper spreadeagle to the bedframe with white zipties, cleave gagged with a white cloth, mmpphhing and struggling helplessly. No release shown. She wears a red sleeveless top, dark cargo trousers and black shoes. |
