Vidcap Help
I need some help capturing still frames from DVD video. I use PowerDVd version 5. I do not try to capture still frames very often but I do not think I ever had any problems before. Now, on about half the videos I try to capture I get nothing but a solid green picture. These videos have been transferred to my HD using DVD Decrypter and some have had DVD Shrink used on them. I think it has something to do with the color palette but I have no idea what or why. I have an ATI Radeon video board.

Any suggestions? Some way to fix it or some other program to use?

Lazos Latinos help
Hello. I was wondering if someone could help me out with some of the tape gag clips from the Lazos Latinos web site. Rapidshare has stopped working for me and I can't download the 4 most recent tape gag clips. I was wondering if there was anyone willing to be my hero and send me these clips if they have them downloaded. I included my e-mail address and hope someone can do me this huge favor. Any help is super appreciated.

A solid color is indicative of the video being rendered on an overlay surface (which means your videocard overlays the dvd image over anything that exact shade of green, if you copy that green into photoshop or set your background to it, the video will play wherever the green is). There should be an option to use software rendering or something besides overlay (might also be vmr 7 or vmr 9) but I'm not exactly sure of the options they have.
It might be also because you turned on their "image enhancement" I forget what they call it, I think that does all its work on the video card too.

Use "virtualdub mpeg2", you have a lot more control as to what frames you cap (can go frame by frame) and can do some stuff like playing with the brightness (video, filters)
You can also save an image sequence (under file menu) and then sort through the pictures with acdsee or whatever image program you want to use. Tiny, free program that is pretty powerful. Compression for stills isn't found in the "video, compression" pane, leave it as "uncompressed rgb".

HiNet won't do the high def files because they are downloaded instead of streamed (and it hits the license server every time you play for a key to unlock it)

Thanks. I checked my preferences in PowerDVD and had hardware acceleration turned on. With it turned off, I can capture OK. But I will give VirtualDub a try too. I hope it can capture directly to jpeg because PowerDVD only captures to bmp, then I have to convert.
