They can be considered as whatever by whoever. Personally I see a fluke as being someone who just got one or two scenes somewhere. If they got several, 't much care if they came all on the same show or not. I guess I wouldn't argue for Diana or Gillian as "Bondage Queens," but they both had a number of nice scenes for which I am grateful.

Re: Diana Rigg
Was Patrick Macnee the luckiest actor ever, in terms of the number of rescuing-damsels scenes?

Long time reader of this awesome forum, but first post. Thanks, Brian (and co!) for all you've done here.

Some of my favourite scenes are of the girl detective genre (something that has never really been done justice in tv or film, more's the pity...the new Nancy Drew held such promise, if only they had of stuck with the original premise and not this supernatural stuff...of course, in Australia we only got to see the first half of the season before it was pulled...)

I remember a while back someone posted about classic books, which included one of my favourite series, The Mystery Club (I was the right target market when they came out in the early to mid nineties). It followed three girl detectives, Holly (the leader / all-rounder), Tracy (the sporty one) and Belinda (the studious one). I liked that they were mystery stories with a bit of action, and this was back in the days when these sorts of stories had much more real perils than some seem today.

I actually had been collecting them all over the past few years for nostalgic reasons, and was waiting to finish reading them as there were quite a few I missed first time round (but only one new scene :( ). I can now summarise all of the scenes in the English language versions (18 books in the series):

Mystery Club 1: Secret Clues - Near the end Holly and Tracy are captured along with another girl at their school, Samantha, and tied hand and foot in the basement of their school. Rescued quickly by Belinda

Mystery Club 3: Forbidden Island - (Previously mentioned) Best scene of the series. Holly and Belinda are captured, gagged, tied hand and foot, and then back to back. Goes on for several pages before Holly manages to wriggle free (after some clever acting to get her bonds loosened). Goes over most of a chapter.

Mystery Club 5: Dangerous Tricks - Tracy and Belinda are captured near the end, bound hand and foot. Rescued by Holly a couple of pages later.

Mystery Club 6: Missing! - Given this one was about a kidnapping, not as extensive as I expected. Tracy (whose cousin Judy is missing) is kidnapped about half way through, bound hand and foot in the back of a car. When arriving at the kidnapper's hideout, her legs are free, but her wrists remain bound for a little longer. Eventually she is reunited with her cousin Judy who had also been kidnapped, but was not tied up. Judy frees Tracy, and that's it for the rest of the story.

After such a promising start of 4 out of the first 6, there is then nothing until book 15 (although lots of being locked up / held at gunpoint missed opportunities).

Mystery Club 15: Poison! - So much potential (three leads plus friend Miranda and girl they meet Alex), yet it is the males that get the longer scenes here, chained up. Belinda and Miranda (one of Holly's friends from London) are briefly tied hands in front near the end. The story revolves around an entire company manufacturing chemical weapons - a bit of a far-fetched departure from the usual jewel theives and smugglers.

Mystery Club 18: Hidden Pasts - Finally all three leads are captured together! Holly is the last captured, and dragged into a van where Tracy and Belinda are already tied by the wrists and gagged. Holly only has her wrists bound, and all three girls are taken off to be thrown into a chasm.

And that is all the English language versions I've been able to track down. From the Goodreads website there is apparently another 8 stories, two of which are supposed to have English print versions, but I can find no other record of them. If anyone does know more about that (or how to easily translate the other stories!), that would be wonderful!

Often foreign-language editions of books have better covers

How to create a quoted post
Someone in email seemed confused because of receiving a
"top-posted" warning. So I thought I would provide an
example for anyone else that is unclear.

The quotes are above, and the reply below. You can get
a false message if you accidentally put a space between
the attribution line and the start of the quotes.

Re: Awesome Netflix movie coming soon?
Awesome is probably going to be the right word. Could be a one in five or even one in ten years classic. She appears to be gagged for the duration due to neighbors' proximity so gag snobs will rejoice. The only real question is how soon in the film her captivity starts. The earlier it begins the more f/t screentime we get. Wednesday night!

Deranged Granny
Anything DID-wise in this tonight? Premieres tonight on Lifetime and has likely already aired on the East Coast.

So far nothing with 10 minutes left; it’s not looking too likely.

Nothing unfortunately. Wendie Malack catches Amanda snooping in her kitchen and pulls a gun on her. But the cops arrive and nothing happens.

Nice scene of Amanda in a white top and red-dotted pants highlighting her glorious backside about 1:20 in. But that was the only highlight.

Typical ending with Wendie in jail plotting a reunion. Doubt this crap will see a sequel.

Re: Deranged Granny
Sucks to hear, thanks for the information anyway. At least we still have Amanda's good scene from The Mentalist from a few years back to enjoy.
