Greatest Moment of Anticipation
I love scenes where you are able to anticipate that a scene is coming up based on something that happens earlier in the show/movie. That Darn Cat (1997) provided one of these moments leading up to Christina Ricci's DID scene. You had a pretty good idea she was gonna get the treatment after the kidnappers caught her trying to free the original kidnap victim (Rebecca Koon). The anticipation built even more when other subplots were explored for a few minutes before the action returned to the kidnappers. The camera lead off by showing Koon bound and gagged first along with the cat being immobilized. Anticipation grew higher as it became more and more apparent that Ricci was about to be shown next in the same bound and gagged predicament.

TV shows also have the ability to build anticipation for a scene that is about to happen. This took place in 18 Wheels of Justice "Caged". The anticipation began the minute the male agent pulled out a roll of duct tape and tore off a strip. It wasn't a question of whether the guy was gonna gag Lisa Maris, it was only a question of when he was gonna do it. Luckily viewers only had to wait through another 30 seconds of dialogue before the tape was applied to the mouth of Maris. There was a similar situation of anticipation that took place in Popular "Misery Loathes Company". It was pretty clear Carly Pope was gonna end up bound and gagged after her blonde captor (Leslie Grossman) took a roll of duct tape out from her purse and began to tear a piece off with a psychotic look in her face and eyes. This time there would be a wait as the camera cut to some other plotlines for a few minutes. The great anticipation came to an end once the camera came back to Pope who now found herself tied up and gagged with duct tape.

Anybody else remember occasions like this where they watched a tv show or movie where great anticipation of a DID scene built during the course of the program?

The first scene that really stuck with me was like that, a "Superman" episode where a suave villain had one of his thugs take Lois Lane (Phyllis Coates) out of the room while he went through her purse looking for something. Having seen women tied up on various western and police shows before - and enjoying it for reasons I couldn't define - I was hoping maybe she would be dealt with in that way, not just locked in a room or something. Bingo! Of course, there are many more instances where you're almost breaking your crossed fingers and whispering "C'mon, baby!" only to be disappointed, often bitterly. But it makes the times that "turn out right" all the sweeter.

The first thing that comes to mind is when a Buffy the Vampire Slayer gave viewers a tease that turned into nothing. Willow (Alyson Hannigan) was being held by the bad guys, who pulled out a roll of duct tape and clearly indicated they were going to tape her up. When we came back to the scene, she was completely unrestrained, which remained the case. Luckily Willow finally got a full-treatment scene (her only one in seven seasons) on a later occasion, but the way it turned out still sucked. It seems likely that she was supposed to be B&G in the script -- no other reason for the duct-tape tease -- but the director probably ended up changing the plan.

The recent Republic of Doyle scene. There's something really hot about the way the villainess holds the gun to the lady cop's throat, and then grins while telling her she "Won't like what happens next."

I anticipated a bondage scene but the build-up to them finding the cop bound and gagged was just excellent.

There are many. How about:

"Marathon Angels" of chuck's chicks fame. It was the first scene the series produced if I recall correctly, and the first of two gorgeous damsels is grabbed right at the beginning. We are suffered to wait quite awhile as the plot is developed. The second is gagged onscreen in the same van as the first. They then show the van moving about and lots of great shots of the ladies, and even a chance for a third scene which does not fully materialize.

Arrow TV series where Felicity is confronted by the Huntress and then Arrow is shown rushing back to the office.

As I recall, it turned out the tape was deployed to be used as a BLINDFOLD, and this was made clear when they came back from the commercial break. We all assumed our favorite witch was about to get a full DiD-scene, and that would have made sense... but I think the writers and director did exactly what they intended to do... dammit!
