M.D.C. - Maschera de cera (1997) aka Gaston Leroux's The Wax Mask
I own the DVD of this and suggest updating the entry as indicated below. Sorry if it’s wordy but I didn’t want to leave any juicy details out.

Record number: 4141

Title: M.D.C. – Wax Mask (1997) aka Gaston Leroux's The Wax Mask aka Maschera de Cera
Medium: Movie
Actress: Stephania Fidotti, Valery Valmond, Romina Mondello

A period update of the same tale that inspired “Mystery of the Wax Museum” and “House of Wax” with three scenes, each better than the previous one.

Approx 30 minutes: Someone dressed in black enters Annas’ bedroom (a little girl played by Fidotti) and hand gags her (with an artificial gold metal hand resembling that of a skeleton) to inject her on the neck with a large needle. The perpetrator starts to abduct her but flees when her mother renters the room. The injection at first appears to be fatal but she recovers.

Approx 45 minutes: A prostitute with long curly blonde hair (Valmond) is lured to a deserted building where she’s caught by surprise and similarly injected. She awakens to the sight of a masked figure (complete with Darth Vader breathing sounds) wearing a black/chain mail smock. She’s on her back on a table/chair “restraint” device strapped down at her wrists elbows, ankles and thighs. Her arms are spread at her sides, her legs slightly apart. Syringes with needles are mounted directly above each arm on this device. She’s naked but a white sheet covers her waist and there’s no gag. The injection has rendered her paralyzed except for her head, though her eyes and mouth effectively convey fear and discomfort throughout this sequence. She attempts to cry out but makes only a very pathetic sound, either a lip smack or the crack of her tightening jaw. Her captor nears a control panel, where moving levers causes the restrainer to shift her body parts to a desired pose. Operating another console a syringe enters her arm and drains her blood, causing her to shrivel up via mediocre CGI effects. Another lever injects blue liquid from the other syringe that restores her appearance though she’s completely immobile now. He then proceeds to prepare her as part of a new exhibit in the wax museum.

Approx 85 minutes: Sexy brunette ingénue Sonia (Mondello, who was unspectacularly abducted about 10 minutes earlier) is on the restrainer. She’s sprawled out similar to Valmond with some notable exceptions. She has a medium size black cloth cleave gag in her mouth (!) and is wearing what appear to be dark leather panties with a waist restraint clearly visible. The scene opens on a close up of her bare feet panning out to reveal the rest of her as she gently struggles and “mmmmphs”. Her abductor adjusts the restrainer position and readies the syringes, causing her mmmphs and struggles to become more intense. Her naked chest heaves even more intensely as he slowly approaches her, finally removing her gag. She squeals and struggles as he babbles insanely over her. The first syringe penetrates her skin just as the villain is hit from behind by her love interest. The LO tries to stop the process at the console, but gets into a fight with the villain before he can figure it out. During this brief skirmish Sonia struggles/squeals more as the other syringe threatens to dig in. The LO is triumphant and retracts the syringes in the nick of time. Sonya continues to squeal as the LO releases her, covering her exposed body with his jacket.

Highly recommended. Does the above description NOT tempt you?

Changed to your description.
Except,
Edited out Stephania and her scene, as Brian wants certain age references left out to avoid hassles.
Posted about it on Discussion awhile back.

Thanx for your assist here.

I've interpreted that to mean there should be no underage references ... not to delete descriptions of such scenes, of which there are quite a few in the DB.

I understand completely and waffled about it adding it. That scene does nothing for me but was included because a.) I wanted to be thorough, and b.) the last time I checked the database there were a few similar age references such as Linda Blair in "The Exorcist".

In this case, I don't think the deleted material detracts
from the scene. I'm happy with what Jay has.

"I've checked the on-line episode guide you've annotated"
"Personally, I agree with your hunch and eliminate the "white tape gag" scene."

David:
Agreed. Will delete it.

Devil's Prey update
re: DB #6016
Title: Devil's Prey
Actress addition: Ashley Jones

In the recently updated entry for this video, the unknown brunette in the final sacrifice scene is Ashley Jones. The same Ashley Jones who got tied up in the same week (or same day in some markets) in The District and VIP. Note, I couldn't get an ID on the blonde in the opening scene. So there still is one unknown in this video.

"I've interpreted that to mean there should be no underage references"

Correct.
I've been having a bugger of a time with the search engine,
so unable to bring up Brian's post on the matter.

You may have better luck?
Be either Brian or Mod, and Discussion or AG page.
Brian will relate about the hassles be's trying to avoid.
Don't recall how recent?

"not to delete descriptions of such scenes, of which there are quite a few in the DB."

Since reading Brian's post,
When I come across them, I'll edit the age reference.
But don't doubt there's more in there haven't noticed yet.

This is that 'Timing Out' problem I've related before.

I'm not sure you're following me.

I'm saying that I read it to mean that a reference to the *age* of an underage character is the target for deletion ... not the description of the scene *itself*, of which many exist in the DB.

Make sense?

Following you fine.

I opted not to enter Sophia (whatever?) scene at all myself, due to Brian's post on the matter.
Where someone else has entered, I just edit out age reference when I spot them.

Jay, I agree with Biff. I think by eliminating the words "little girl" from the description is all the editing that needs to be done. Frex:

"Approx 30 minutes: Someone dressed in black enters Annas’ (Fidotti) bedroom and hand gags her (with an artificial gold metal hand resembling that of a skeleton) to inject her on the neck with a large needle. The perpetrator starts to abduct her but flees when her mother enters the room. The injection at first appears to be fatal but she recovers."

Can't say the scene sounds particularly appetizing, though....

Re: M.D.C. - Maschera de cera (1997) aka Gaston Leroux's The Wax Mask
Jay, There was a typo in my update. The "M.D.C." should be removed so it reads like this:

Title: Wax Mask (1997) aka Gaston Leroux's The Wax Mask aka Maschera de Cera

Also, the first sentence of the description references the deleted Stephania scene. Consider rewording it this way:

Approx 45 minutes: A prostitute with long curly blonde hair (Valmond) is lured to a deserted building where she’s caught by surprise and injected on the neck with a large needle.

"Jay, I agree with Biff. I think by eliminating the words "little girl" from the description is all the editing that needs to be done."

I see.
Due to Brian's post, I was reluctant to put the Sophia part in myself.
Probably should have specified myself here.
Other than that,
Buddy iD put one heck of an effort into that description,
so wanted him to be aware why I was reluctant to enter part of it.

Problem: I'm timing out on the search, so went back into Discussion & AG page for Brian's post,
Scanning through, found this one:

Very likely, there will be massive changes in the coming
months, so I'm not going to look at any problems other
than critical ones.

Jay, the scene in question makes my skin crawl; most of the database entries in question can be cleaned up with a little judicious editing.

Besides, I like to show Biff I do agree with him occasionally. :)

Agreed
Last while been thinking of a way to put it.
(-18 Alert)?, etc.

Figure we can come up with something to avoid our Buddy having any hassles over this.

I think the goal is to not call attention to age matters ... wouldn't that do the opposite?

I think it's up to the individual entrymaker to decide whether to include such scenes ... once they're in, and aren't beyond the pale (e.g., overtly [subjective, I know] sexual or violent content would be a deal-breaker for me), an editor should simply ensure that they don't allude to age.

If there's a way to *infer* age so users are alerted to that fact, add it ... otherwise, caveat emptor.

I'm thinking aloud here ... but it might be a good rule of thumb.

And David ... I remember that one time we came to the same conclusion ... <g>
