| Coming from Discussion Page Title: Rocio de La Mancha (1963) Medium: Movie Actress: Rocio Durcal Description: Rocio Durcal, a huge singing star in Spain from her teens, pretty much played herself in many of her movies. In Rocio de la Mancha, she is a poor orphan (also named Rocio) who happens to greatly resemble the deceased daughter of a rich man. He is desperate to bring happiness to his depressed wife by bringing Rocio to pass for her daughter Isabel. Since Rocio refuses his initial request the man and his chauffer must kidnap her. This is a light hearted comedy so there is never a sense of danger or distress. Action starts at about the 55 minute mark. Rocio is seen bound hand and foot in the back of a car. Her hands are tied in front with loops of rope around her arms and torso. She is gagged over the mouth with a patterned white cloth that appears to be a dish towel. In the car, we see her ankles are bound with rope and her knees are cinched with a black leather belt. Once in the house the OTM gag is removed and the chauffeur proceeds to extract a lengthy strip of cloth packing from her mouth (quite unique). During this part of the scene, the lead abductor sticks his fingers in his ears expecting a verbal explosion once the girl's gag is completely removed. When none is forthcoming, the man unties her hands, unspooling at least 10 loops of rope holding her wrists together (again remarkable given the nature of the film). The belt and rope binding her knees and ankles are nowhere to be seen, presumably having been removed to facilitate transporting her from the car to the large house. Publicity photos of her capture show the chauffer untying a cleave gag instead of an OTM gag, but this part of the scene didn't make it into the film. |

She was gagged quite thoroughly and realistically, because she specifically requested a high degree of verisimilitude for her bondage scene. She wanted to be bound and gagged as realistically as possible. |

Her kidnapper grabs her with a white ziptie in hand, but her hands are bound off-camera as she is bundled into his car. At 34-35mins, Bridget and her captor are shown at a phone booth making a ransom call to Dan; she is tightly cleave gagged with a dark blue scarf, but no other bonds are visible at any point. At 36-37mins, we get two short sequences of the attractive blonde lying on the floor beneath the back seat of his car, still gagged and looking wonderfully helpless, but neither struggling nor making a sound. Dan comes to her rescue at 41-44mins, ungagging her onscreen and pulling out a wad of blue cloth from her mouth as well (it was never really obvious that there was mouth packing until now). Lighting is bright vibrant, with plenty of beautiful close-ups of Bridget's gagged face. |
