This page is for posting links to online streaming video, Youtube and things like that. The rules are somewhat looser than Discussion. You can post and discuss mainstream and related amateur video. Do not post clips from commercial videos. It's usually not that hard to tell the difference.

And the editing everyone does on the scenes is after the real edit has been done, the shots have been chosen to within a couple of frames each end, you should try editing from the raw footage. On an average gig, I might cut 7 - 10 minutes of scene... from 140 - 250 minutes of original footage... and that'll take 10 - 12 hours of solid work. Editing is great when you see it come together... but watching the same lines said 30 - 50 times, and that's just the first stage ... it gets tired! jd |

Yeah, kinda blows that they overtalked it (I won't even call that pathetic effort overdubbing) in Russian but the scene is phenomenal, Peta is HOT, and it's almost impossible to find this anymore, though if anyone does find a version that hasn't been ruined by overtalking it'd be great if they'd post it. Oh I've done raw footage too, if you're talking about MPEG-2 interlaced TS streams. That's the worst gig of all. I've gotten used to clipping from already-encoded H.264 and Xvid streams, but all those hours of tinkering with raw MPEG-2 just for a few extra KBs of bitrate.....eesh, I dunno what the hell I was thinking when I was singing the praises of lossless DiDclips a few years ago. And yea, you said the all-important thing right there: watching & listening to the saaaaaaame pieces of footage & dialogue repeatedly just to get the perfect frame cut, or searching for a several short scenes scattered within a 2+ hour movie, without any timecodes on the dB entry.....Well, even if it's a hot damsel B&G, it just doesn't gimme the same thrills anymore--more like chills of dread (lol) in putting it all together & laboriously taking 10 careful screenshots. Thing is, I don't mind posting the occasional movie rarity like I did with the scenes above, or any surprising soapland treats from the UK. It's that "race" to churn out new TV scenes after they air I'm totally done with, eg. tomorrow's Rookie Blue scene sounds awesome, but there's no way in hell I'm doing that race-to-be-the-first shit anymore. Other cappers can provide this place with spank bank material. ;-) |

I was amazed out the pace you kept up for as long as you did. I was clipping maybe 5-10% of what you were doing for less than 2 years before it got tiring. I remember spending almost my entire weekends clipping some times. After my provider implemented HDCP handshaking on my DVR a year ago, I lost the ability to get HDMI output to my video capture card so I had to quit. |

Yea I recall a few people posting similar things recently about the thrill being gone after awhile. I guess thats what most of us have to look forward to. I've only been giving a go to this editing thing for about a year now (and collecting for a few), but the key for me has just been to step away from it regularly. Like post for a few days and then try to avoid it for a week or two. Life is all about balance. But it's obviously easier said than done. And I'll usually only post scenes now if it's gone awhile without anyone else posting it first. The begging does get a little thin after awhile. (seriously, asking for somebody to post an edit before a scene has even aired? C'mon). PS ''Not as prolifically as before'' he says, and then proceeds to post about 10 clips in 2 days. Lol. Slacker! |
