The Signal |
Day: Sunday July 31 2011 |
Time: 12:20 AM Eastern |
Channel: TMC |
Record number: 12466 Title: The Signal (2007) Medium: Movie Actress: Anessa Ramsey, Tristan Towne, Unknown Description: In this horror flick about a mysterious transmission that makes people homocidal, it's not always apparent who's "got the crazy," which provides a number of opportunities for the unafflicted to tie people up. Two of these are women: female lead Ramsey (playing "Mya") and Towne, who is credited as "Ducktaped Girl" and seen only in one brief shot. Both are bound and gagged with duct tape, with their hands in front and more tape holding their arms to their sides. Ramsey's scene lasts maybe half a minute, with the gag coming off about halfway through. Both scenes are in the first of three "transmissions" or segments that make up the film. There are also some brief bondage shots in an introductory segment. One woman is handcuffed with her hands over her head; another woman tries to free her but can't locate the key. A third woman (or possibly one of the first two?) is tied in the same position as Ramsey and Towne, but with barbed wire instead of duct tape. Ouch. No gags in these early scenes, and it probably won't be clear to the typical viewer what they have to do with the rest of the film. Not much, it turns out: based on the Sundance Q&A, it's basically an inside joke in which the directors used an excerpt from their earlier short film as an example of a crappy horror movie playing on the television before the Signal kicks in. It wouldn't surprise me if some or all of this sequence didn't make it to the final cut, but, fingers crossed. Anessa Ramsey also gets hand gagged around the 19 minute mark. |

It's Lucy, sporting a white cloth cleave gag with her ankles bound and her arms tied to her side. She banging on the door with her head. When Ricky stands up to remove the gag, Fred says, "Careful Ricky, do you know what you're doing?" Ricky removes the cloth, and Lucy 'splains how she was tied up by the real burglars.
