Record number: 8451 Title: The Outlaw Stallion (1954) Medium: Movie Actress: Dorothy Patrick Description: Hagen (Roy Roberts) and his gang of thugs illegally capture wild horses on a wildlife preserve. When Mary and Danny Saunders (Patrick and Billy Gray) try to intervene they captured and held prisoner in the bad guys pickup with their wrists bound behind their backs (yeah, this is one of those modern westerns where the bad guys drive trucks and the posse runs them down riding their trusty cayuses.) Anyway, the action starts about twelve minutes from the end and continues for seven minutes until Danny slips his bonds and forces the speeding pickup truck off the road and into a river. Heroic veternarian Doc Woodrow (Philip Carey) rescues the bound damsel (untieing her wrists on screen) from the waterlogged pickup and then pursues and captures the chief baddie. One drawback to the scene is there is no capture sequense. We see Mary ride down towards the trucks being loaded with horses and five minutes later we see her tied up with Danny in the pick-up. No confrontation scene, no ratcheting up of the danger level, no nothing. Pretty sloppy writing and directing in my book. |
