| Duplicate of 16579, albeit with more detail besides lack of actress names. They need to be consolidated, but I've never been too good at that. |

| Sunday February 27 10:25:58 2022 Character Set |
| Brian: I tried to send this by email, but never got an acknowledgement from the page: <start msg> I don't know if its related to the problem with display that you fixed on Saturday, but all of a sudden there is a problem with the display of certain characters on both the forum pages and in the database. Some character(s) can't be displayed and is being replaced with a black diamond (if you look at the last 10 DB entries you'll see exactly what I mean). I did a fast check and entries going back weeks which had been displayed correctly are now showing the same problem. I'm not sure how much control you have a the character set on the site, but you may need to contact the web host to investigate. |

I will have to look into the other. I suspect that all of these are related, so I have a ticket into the hosting company. |

The database display is the problem. The DB text file is fine. The forum doesn't show the problem if you put the characters in directly, only copy/paste from the DB shows it. I will keep working on it. |

| The hosting company updated PHP a recently, and that seems to be the source of all problems. In this case, the default character set couldn't handle some of these characters. I let them know and modified the display routines to override the character set with ISO-8859-1 and things look good now. I think DB entries copy/pasted into forum messages are probably broken, but we'll live with that. Let me know if you see anything else odd. |
