At 14mins of episode 5, Hani (Adele) arrives home and is ambushed by a terrorist looking for nuclear secrets. She fights well, even stabbing him in the stomach with a kitchen knife, but is knocked out cold by a punch. When Hani's mother, Alilah (Haralabidou), and father arrive home at 20-21mins, they are horrified to find the terrorist holding her head underwater in their swimming pool; she is lying face down, hands bound behind her back (wrists crossed) with grey electrical tape, and feet also taped. After subjecting Hani to repeated water-dunking treatment, he finally accepts her parents' surrender of information. When next shown, at 22-24mins, all three are in the living room; Hani (still taped up) lies on her side on the floor, while Alilah and hubby are taped to chairs at the dining table (hands by sides and against the backrest, feet to chair legs). They all berate each other for keeping secrets and allowing the situation to happen, until the villain decides to make a move by taking Hani with him. Before he leaves, he gags both parents onscreen with a wide strip of tape each, followed by Hani when she is put into the trunk of his pickup. She is briefly seen still lying in the trunk at 29mins, as the terrorist (now mortally wounded from when he was stabbed earlier) talks to her for a final time before leaving the pickup and committing suicide at a nearby graveyard. Things get even worse for Hani at 33-37mins, when she ends up in the clutches of a different villain who has essentially commandeered the operation. Having been taken to a warehouse, she is sat on a chair, still bound and gagged as before. After a short while, the tape is ripped off from her mouth onscreen. Then, to force Hani's boyfriend to give up some secret files, this new villain tortures her by holding a white plastic bag over her head and filming it on his cellphone. At 41-43mins, Hani is still sitting on the chair, bound but ungagged. Mercifully she has been left alone for a while, so she begins to daydream/hallucinate about Alilah being there to comfort her. The cellphone clip of Hani being suffocated is repeated at the end of this sequence, as her boyfriend watches it in disbelief while waiting for the secret information to go through. During a phone call between him and the villain, at 44-45mins, Hani listens apprehensively to their conversation. Right at the end of the episode, at 52mins, a quick glimpse of her reveals that she has been left alone with the plastic bag over her head again, and almost certainly dead. Both scenes reach their conclusion at 10-11mins of episode 6, when Hani's boyfriend rescues her parents at the house; Alilah is ungagged onscreen, in close-up, with the tape visibly quite sticky when it is peeled off her mouth. Elsewhere, police discover Hani in the warehouse; she is freed offscreen, then shown at a hospital recovering from her ordeal. All times based on the iTunes releases without commercials. |
