Record number: 1362 Title: In Dreams (1999) Medium: Movie Actress: Krystal Benn, Annette Bening Description: Bening fears for the safety of a little girl (Benn) who lives in a house with her crazed father. At 1hr 19mins she tries to lead Benn away from a room, but she starts to scream in protest. Bening grabs and handgags her to keep her quiet, but is knocked out from behind by the father. Soon, Bening wakes up and realizes that she isn't going anywhere fast: first we are shown an extreme close-up of her face, gagged with a wide (ear-to-ear) strip of duct tape, and a small streak of blood visible on her forehead. The shot then zooms out and we see that she is lying on a bed on her side, hands tied behind her with rope, which are connected to her ankles in a loose hogtie, and a rope noose also around her neck. All of the ropework is quite loose. She tries to struggle a bit, but then stops and notices Benn talking to her from across the bed. She crawls over to sit next to her, calmly explaining something about how Bening made her father angry, whilst refusing to ungag her for risk of making him even madder. The sequence ends in an adorable fashion with Benn giving her a kiss on the cheek and leaving her to struggle on the bed. A minute later Benn and her father return to the room. He tells her to go and join Bening, who is still hogtied and gagged as before, to which she happily snuggles up next to her on the bed. They both listen quietly as he gives a crazy monologue in front of a dressing table mirror, during which we see Bening lightly tugging at her ankle bonds to no avail. He eventually cosies up next them and rips the tape off Bening's mouth (eliciting a pained reaction from her). Both he and Benn then give her a kiss on the cheek each as they all try to get some sleep. At 1hr 24mins, Benn decides to untie her and they both leave the room together. The scene lasts just under 4mins, is darkly lit throughout, and has a decent mix of close-ups and full-body shots. Bening wears a crimson dress showing a lot of leg, and stiletto heels. Benn wears a coat, light-coloured trousers and slippers. |

Record number: 889 Title: Motel Hell (1980) Medium: Movie Actress: Elaine Joyce, Nina Axelrod Description: About midway through the film, Joyce's character and her boyfriend show up at the title location, mistaking it for a kinky swinger's joint. When the baddies who own it walk in on the couple bearing ropes and masks attached to gas cylinders, the couple invites them to tie them up and give them a shot of the gas. The lead baddie (Rory Calhoun) makes a spectacle of hogtying Joyce, then he and his partner render both her and her boyfriend unconscious with the gas. Near the movie's end, Axelrod falls into Calhoun's clutches, and is tied semiconscious to a conveyor in front of a meat slicer. Soon after the famous climactic chain-saw duel between Calhoun and Axelrod's boyfriend begins, the switch starting the machine is accidentally thrown, and the rest of the fight is intercut with scenes of Axelrod, now awake, screaming and struggling as she inches toward the slicer. |

Record number: 19370 Title: Cut Bank (2014) Medium: Movie Actress: Teresa Palmer Description: Beauty queen Cassandra (Palmer), still wearing her blue pageant gown, is kidnapped at gunpoint along with her boyfriend at 1hr 16mins. She is next shown in the back seat of a car, hands implied to be bound behind her back, but bonds never visible. She is also gagged with a wide strip of duct tape and, in a unique touch, blindfolded with her white pageant sash; this unfortunately stays on for the entire scene, giving us no views of her eyes. Lots of mmpphhing from her nonetheless, as her boyfriend is forced by their captor to drive the car to a garage. A few minutes later, both he and Cassandra are sitting next to each other on the floor; his hands are bound as well but he is not gagged, and her feet are unbound. After a few more minutes a large envelope is placed over each of their heads, with more duct tape used to secure them. A cop finally discovers and frees the almost-suffocating couple at 1hr 22mins. |
