Record number: 13307 Title: Funny Games (2008) Medium: Movie Actress: Naomi Watts Description: This shot-for-shot remake of a dark German movie (and since it is a shot-for-shot remake, shouldn't the database entry be (almost) word-for-word?) begins as a quaint family trip to the country. Once settled in, however, that knock at the cottage door turns out to be much more than it initially seemed. The home is soon taken over by two sadistic 'punks', and Naomi Watts' first scene begins with her being led into the livingroom, wrists bound behind her with brown cellophane packing tape. Psycho #1 then forces her onto the sofa, and tapes up her ankles as well (she is not, at this point, gagged). In an escape attempt a few minutes later, we see her rise from the sofa and vigorously hop across the room to her injured husband (who is not bound). He unsuccessfully attempts to rip the tape from her wrists with his fingers, and then resorts to gnawing at the tape with his teeth. To no avail, however, as Psycho #2 inconveniently comes back into the room. Later, the bad-guys having said their 'adieus' and left, there are a few other momentary scenes of Watts hopping around until she finally frees herself. At 1:30, and in the first of two great scenes in the movie: having had no phone at the vacation cottage we see her attempting to flag down a car for help on a country road, while her injured husband stays back at the cottage, waiting for her to return with the police. Seems it must've been JUST the wrong car to try to attract attention from, because we then cut to Watts being led back into the cottage by the bad guys, to her husband's shock, bound with rope and THOROUGHLY gagged. In stringent and ingenious bondage, seldom seem in mainstream movies or tv, her wrists are bound with rope in front of her, and held tightly to her crotch. We are then treated to over a full minute of close-up of Watts' incredible gag, as she sits almost motionless on the sofa trying to deal with cloth-packing of immense proportions, distending her cheeks/mouth to the point of being almost a caricature (the single piece of rope 'holding' the cloth in her mouth seems superfluous). There is then some wonderful 'acting' (?) by Watts as the camera stays on her while alternately choking/gagging and attempting to breathe through the monstrous gag (a teardrop even forming at the corner of her eye). We get to see exactly whats inside her mouth when the bad-guys decide that she would be much more fun to play with if she werent indeed gagged: one of them pulls her forward on the sofa (the expression on her face from the tightening noose around her neck when he does this seems almost real), and then cuts the rope running up her back, connecting her wrists to the noose. Wrists still bound, she hurriedly reaches up and pulls the single piece of rope from around her mouth, then makes quite a production out of pulling the HUGE piece of cloth from her own mouth, allowing her to again breathe freely. The other great scene is when we see a long-shot of the bad-guys leading our heroine down to a boat dock. She is attired in a yellow rain-slicker as they lead her onto a sailboat, and we see then that she is again incredibly well-gagged. This time with the aforementioned brown cellophane packing tape wrapped completely around her head, multiple times, completely covering her lower face and chin. No real indication of what might be inside her mouth, but we do plainly see that her cheeks are bulging above the tape. We then also become aware that she is bound in much the same manner as she was before, wrists with rope in front, crotchrope underneath and up to her neck (although the noose is not nearly as tight this time). Psycho #2 unties the noose arrangement so that he can then sit her on the floor of the boat. He binds her ankles, and then then wrists-to-ankles in front. It seems the inference is that Watts is gagged almost to the point of choking again, as there is no sound coming from her, and she is seen sitting on the floor of the boat and blinking her eyes at times quite rapidly, as if trying to keep from choking. Several more excellent close-ups of Watts' gagged face, and there is one more attempt at escape as the bad-guys take her out for a jaunt on the lake *** Spoiler/Warning: Be advised, there are several disturbing scenes in this flick, none of the family meets a good end, including a somewhat grisly ending for Watts herself *** I think this one is a little better lit than the original, and Watts is much better looking hopping around in her underwear. |

| Title: Final Approach (2007) Medium: TV Movie Actress: Judith Hoag, Stacy Haiduk Description: 3 hour telemovie is basically Die Hard on a plane - but includes some excellent double DID action. Cast includes a number of ex-super heroes & heroines including ex-Superman Dean Cain and damsels Judith Hoag (April O'Neil) and Stacy Haiduk (Lana Lang) - who play the wives of two executives kidnapped to blackmail their husbands (who are on board the plane). Both ladies are now in their late 30's but still looking good. Action starts around the 36 min mark - Judith is pulled from her car in the driveway of her house and shoved into the back of a van. She is wearing dark Jeans, green T-shirt & cardigan and black low heeled ankle boots. No bondage Around the 47min mark, Stacy is attacked in her home by a kidnapper - some struggling and wrestling (no bondage). Stacy is wearing a dark blue tracksuit and white flat heeled casual shoes (like trainers). Around the 1hr00min mark, Close ups of Judith laying on her back on the matress, she hears gag noises and squirms across the floor to a small grate - from where she sees Stacy crying into her gag in the next room. Some close ups of Stacy's face but partially osbscured as these are viewed through the vent from Judith's perspective. Judith then squirms over to a sharp edge on a wall on works off the wrist bonds, ungags herself and unwraps her ankles on-screen. Around the 1hr06min mark, Judith picks the lock on her door with a coat hanger and opens the door of Stacy's room - a brief wide angle shot of Stacy on the floor looking upwards - the only unobscured shot of Stacy getting the full treatment. Aound the 1hr18min mark the ladies make their way downstairs to escape but are discovered Around the 1hr27min mark both ladies are now bound and seated together on a downstairs sofa - hands behind and ankles together with duct tape - but no gags and no shots of their bonds. Around the 1hr30min mark, there are two later shots of them but still no view of their bonds. Done through webcam. Around the 1hr33min mark, the captors leave the room and there are several wider angle shots which show their bound ankles. Stacy begins to work on freeing Judith's wrists Shortly thereafter the ladies are next seen running through the woods in a second escape attempt - but are quickly caught Around the 2hr10min mark, the FBI storm the house and free the damsels - only a brief shot of Judith looking around when she hears the commotion - again laying on her back on the matress in the upstairs bedroom B&G with duct tape as before. No more shots of Stacy B&G. Editor Note: The following was not shown in the US airing.Around the 40 min mark the van pulls up at a remote location and Judith emerges from the van - she is now bound hands behind and gagged - both with silver duct tape. She is led into the house and her captor is instructed to "take her upstairs and wrap her tight". She is then thrown onto her back on a matress on the floor of an upstairs bedroom and her ankles are bound with duct tape on screen while she struggles. Good close ups of her gagged face. |
