I mean, what do I do after that?

youtube (moved from The Discussion Page)
I just got an HP media center PC and plan to start being a bit more active in DID sharing and alerts.
However, I have a question. How do you save you tube videos? I am a low-tech guy and would love to know an easy place to learn to do this.
Brian, I know this was covered some a bit ago and am sorry if this is off topic. Just looking for a lead on how to do this. A general goggle search on the topic had me lost.
Thank you in advance for any leads on how to do this.
Also, the scene database has been perfect as I begin to use my new dvr with my dish system. Thanks for a great site.

Correct. You're looking for the Raffish posts
Here:

(Raffish Link)
http://javimoya.com/blog/download-videos/

________________________________________________

And this from Dannysuling:
_____

1. Copy the youtube clip's URL, then go to:
http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

2. Paste the URL into the blank white entry box labeled: "Download direct from...etc."

3. Left-Click the "Download" button to the right of the white entry box

4. A box below will appear labeled "Download" with a button labeled "Download Link" inside it. LEFT-CLICK on that button. Ignore the other instructions.

5. At that point, Windows brings up the standard "Open" or "Save" option. I assume you plan to click "Save," then select the folder you wish to store the clip in, and the default name "Get Video." You can leave the default and go forward, or rename the file first.

6. When the save process is done, look in the appropriate folder. You will see the clip residing under the name you chose. NOW: add ".flv" to the filename, and that will allow you to play the file. If you don't yet have the player, go back to:
http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php
and get the player they offer.

Try that and let us know if you're still encountering problems.

Alert:

Some clips do not allow themselves to be copied. In such cases, when you click on the button "Download Link" in step 4, you will get an "Error" message. Go for a different clip.

Some clips will play in youtube, and look like they are being saved just fine, but when you open them they terminate prematurely or have a distorted soundtrack. There's nothing you can do about this either. At least, not that I've found. Just move on to something else.

Good luck,
Jay L

And another suggested from another poster:

"Try Keepvid.com, which downloads Youtube urls you input as flv files, then do a search for Riva's FLV player to play them back with."
