Wednesday April 30 12:59:56 2008 [4888] The Lady Vanishes (1979) |
In addition to Lansbury's scene, Cybill Shepherd receives a handgag midway through the film. She's wearing a silky long white gown and looks great. |

Wednesday April 30 15:22:09 2008 [1083] Scales of Justice |
Been doing some scouting on this one. According to the "locatetv" site (see below), this episode is "Regina vs. Pappajohn" from 1992, from the Canadian series "Scales of Justice," 1992-95 (there are two other TV series by the same name). Don't have an actual episode number yet, and "Epguides" only lists the late '60s American series by this name (confusing, huh?). The actress in the clip is surely the Canadian Sherry Miller, based on other photos I've seen of her, but although she's a well-traveled and still-current actress, curiously the IMdB doesn't list "Scales of Justice" in her filmography--or at least I can't locate the citation. http://www.locatetv.com/tv/scales-of-justice/1373151 |

Epguides cites this as Episode 23.54 (from 2007). (IMdB says it's 23.53 but you've convinced me that it's less reliable). |

This is a much better scene than the thumbnail description lists. Lengthy scene, good lighting, multiple close ups. Carrie has tied and gagged herself to protest censorship at the school, her sketch is about freedom of expression. She appears in grey-stripe prison gear, bandanna gagged, a bandanna tied around her wrists, and a ball and chain at her ankle. She makes a speech about freedom of expression while gagged, maybe the most extensive gag talk scene ever. Even gagged, she encourages the class to follow her- they wander thru the halls where she talks others into joining her cause- still gagged. When they reach the lunch room, she frees herself and it all ends with a song and dance number. |
