This page is for posting links to online streaming video, Youtube and things like that. The rules are somewhat looser than Discussion. You can post and discuss mainstream and related amateur video. Do not post clips from commercial videos. It's usually not that hard to tell the difference.

Tuesday November 27 14:51:30 2012 Daily Motion downloads |
Is anyone else having trouble with certain Daily Motion downloads? Suddenly a lot of them are inflated to the size of 2GB, and I say inflated because we're talking about one minute clips at 360 pr 480 quality. And they're ALL 2GB, no matter how long the actual clip. (More specifically, they're all exactly 2047.99MB.) When I try to download I'm informed it will take five hours or whatever. (It keeps changing actually, and the download process is very sluggish, while most of my downloads go smoothly.) Okay, I've wait five hours, but about twenty mins into it the download will break off and leave me with a file I can't play. Is VD now doing something to some posts to make them undownloadable? (Or are the people who are putting them up doing this?) Other sites like MyVideo and YouTube still work as before... |

Sam, it's not all vids, but certain ones, which makes me wonder if certain authors are putting bloat code in themselves to discourage downloading. Here's a link to one...I post it with great trepidation, because it's not a scene in a story and the mod may get all crazy, but I'm just posting it as a demonstration of the conundrum I'm having, not to break the rules. http://www.dailymotion.com/playlist/x19sal_vistor1962_tied-on-bed/1#video=xvcseb I'd like to know if anyone else has problems loading that particular one. In the meantime, I'll try that downloader. |

^ That one downloaded perfectly with SaveVideo. Filesize was 22.6MB, no problems. |

I have had the same problem on youtube, but when you toggle the quality, say going from 480 to 360 back to 480, you can then download the normal size file. |

Just in case you hadn't noticed; the season one episodes of Fringe had never been put into the database. I added them this past weekend (4 or 5 eps). None of them were really great-but you might want to take a look at the entries to see if any of them would be of interest to you. |
