| When it comes to Home Shopping networks and "our thing," nothing, I repeat, nothing topped Toni Brattin -- a HOT little blonde -- and her Lip Secret demos on HSN. She literally cloth-handgagged models to show how her lipstick would stay on no matter what. It was incredible. I taped a bunch of her demos, and I'd love to share them if I can figure out how to dupe then upload from VHS... Anyway, if you can find Lip Secret demonstrations from old HSN footage, you won't be disappointed. |

| Hi all. As most of you know, the fourth incarnation of my mainstream DiD archive was recently shut down by Google after 2 1/2 years. I was as disappointed as anyone, but every temporary setback brings a new opportunity. I'm excited to announce ScreenTies.com, a privately-hosted, custom-built, subscription-based website which will pick up where the Drive left off, while adding a ton of new features. Soon, we’ll be launching an Indiegogo campaign. Backers of the campaign will be given the chance to help build this ambitious new site and receive a limited number of early-access subscriptions, along with several other great perks. What are the implications of explicitly charging a membership fee to view content (even if "just" clips) that's copyrighted by other entities? The idea sounds intriguing, but I suspect the second that one of the big content players sees a site charging money to view content they hold the rights to, you're gonna get a Cease & Desist and shut down... |

We considered this extensively before committing many months to this project. A good case study is mrskin.com, who have been around since 1999 and have not been troubled by C&Ds; in fact, many of the studios have come to view them as valuable promotional allies. Our model will be the same, in that *every* clip we post will be accompanied by added value in the form of editorial content. (Though it's also true that my old Bondageparade site had over 10,000 paying subscribers and only received a single takedown request over the course of several years...and there was no editorial content on that site whatsoever.) |
