The current policy seems a bit counterintuitive to me: at least in the case of edit requests, the poster is providing concrete information about where a scene can be found, as opposed to "it's out there somewhere, pretty please help me find it." Not to sabotage my experiment with the edit request form, but so far it's playing out pretty much as I suspected it would: much more demand than supply (what with only Portuguese and me picking up the requests), to the extent that it's not necessarily sustainable. I'm not shutting it down just yet, but I'm also coming to the conclusion that it's not a reliable substitute for folks being able to make requests here. Just my $.02 as an editor that I don't mind seeing either kind of request here, where I'm always perfectly free to ignore them. |

I suggested that folks requesting edits, especially frequently, might be more likely to find satisfaction by learning to make them themselves, given the supply/demand ratio we're talking about. I certainly never suggested that edit requests should not be allowed here. Obviously I'm happy to abide by the ruling, down to not filling requests that I see here before you have a chance to delete them, but there's no reason for you to go to the effort on my account. (Obviously other editors may feel differently, so, cool.) |
