Monday March 14 05:41:48 2016 L.A. Slasher |
A scene which was talked about last year, but didn't really deliver. The dB entry tells all, and probably makes it sound better than it is. Either way, check out the edit below at Movies / 0-M. |

Monday March 14 06:06:39 2016 Request: Arrow S2E3 |
Our archive don't have this, really good scene. Record number: 17188 Title: Arrow Medium: TV Series Actress: Ashley MacDonald, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy Description: Episode: “Broken Dolls” (2.03) Years ago, Starling City Det. Quentin captured The Dollmaker – aka Barton Mathis. Escaping from prison, the killings start again. At about the five-minute mark (all times without commercials), his latest victim (Jinji, listed in the credits as “Dead Girl”) is found murdered, dressed and preserved like a porcelain doll, and suspended from a vertical pole and framework. At about the eight-minute mark, Ashley (the Red-Headed girl) gets into her car. Mathis, hiding in the back seat, now springs from concealment. He briefly handgags the her. At about the 15-minute mark, she is seen standing against a near-vertical examination table (tilted only slightly backwards). Her wrists are bound separately to the side of the table by what wide Velcro straps. Her ankles are lashed together by the same material. The end of a large diameter clear plastic tube is secured in her mouth. The plastic tube does more than just stifle her screams. It serves also as a conduit whereby a white liquid polymer can be introduced into her mouth. The polymer hardens in the esophagus, and she dies a slow, painful death from suffocation. At about the 17-minute mark, we see that Mathis has dressed and preserved the Redhead Girl, and put her on public display on a vertical pole and framework, just like the Dead Girl. At about the 24-minute mark, Mathis grabs Felicity (Emily), handgagging her and dragging her away. The male members of the team move in. Felicity is rescued, but Mathis escapes. Mathis stuns Quentin and tosses him into the rear of his van, his hands flex-cuffed in front. Already in the van is Quentin’s daughter Laurel (Katie ), her hands likewise flex-cuffed in front. At about the 34-minute mark, we are back at the secret laboratory. Laurel gets the same treatment as the Redhead Girl – wrists bound separately to the side framework of the near-vertical table, ankles lashed together, and a large diameter clear plastic tube secured in her mouth. As the white liquid polymer flows through the tube towards Laurel’s mouth, all seems lost. However Arrow arrives in the nick of time. He destroys the lab equipment by means of an arrow, saving Laurel’s life. The Arrow frees Quentin, and then chases down Mathis. |

Monday March 14 10:00:12 2016 The Walking Dead S06E13 |
Raffish, this one's a toughie. The sheer length of it, and the slow pace, creates a few options in terms of an edit: either ditch most of the dialogue where the duct tape bonds aren't in view, or keep everything (meaning pretty much 2/3rds of the ep) as a giant, boring file that isn't worth much after the gags come off. How will you approach this? |

Honestly, I was thinking of letting you handle it. :) I'm pretty busy this week, and I'm also trying to cut back on clipping the same scenes I suspect you'll be getting to within a few days anyway, especially when I don't really love the scene (which applies here). If I did clip it, I'd probably make a tighter edit than usual, and cut as many of the non-bondage shots as possible without totally butchering the dialog. I *might* even take out most of the stuff after the gags come off...can't say for sure, since I haven't really studied it yet. |

Dialogue has always been completely dispensable in my edits, unless it's a half-decent looking female saying a line during a cutaway. And yea, I figured this would be one of those scenes in need of an exception. I rarely ever do that (VANish, SOKO Köln S01E21, and Marie Brand Und Die Falsche Frau being the only ones I can think of), but this one is so goddamn boring after the initial struggling from Cohan, that I'm inclined to ditch most of the lame old broad & skip straight to when Cohan gets her hands free. |
