It's actually more complicated. The girl is in fact a rebel who infiltrated a Japanese troop, while the two heroes were in meantime captured by "real" Japanese soldiers from the same troop. As the heroes were brought into camp and bumped into the girl, she was afraid they could blown her cover (they had a history together, but the heroes were unaware of her current mission), so she ordered the heroes to be imprisoned and tied up, like a real Japanese officer would probably do. Thus when the heroes later freed themselves, they - unsure of what to think of the girl - simply returned her the favor and tied her up like the rest of the troop. It eventually ends up with all of them reuniting in a resistance camp, where the girl is the boss. |

The damsel's original clothing is taken so someone else may wear it and play a dirty trick on the hero. And since the damsel is still kept captive (instead of just being abandoned like in the clothing theft scenario), she is provided something else to wear. cndid 981 to 983: The damsel is kidnapped by bad lady (not really evil, just mischievous) and her two henchwomen (cndid 981, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QZm2TSiqg0 at 11:30). The henchwomen are sent back to town with a message, and upon returning they find their boss tied up and the damsel missing (cndid 982, same episode at 14:50). Turns out the damsel was "re-kidnapped" by real villains. The heroes enter a warehouse where a female in the damsel's clothing is tied up on chair and hooded. It is a trap as the captive is actually an assassin (warning, she meets unhappy end almost immediately; same episode at 30:45). The actual damsel is held elsewhere in a different dress, tied to chair and ungagged (same episode at 41:35, a bit violence there) and eventually placed into a death trap (cndid 983, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojIjVrvA-xg from 3:30). I'll also just mention cndid 635, which is a special, "double reverse" situation: First, it's not the hero being tricked here but the villains - it has to look like the damsel is still captive, while in fact she was rescued and a villaines dressed in her clothing took her place. And second, the "villaines" is actually working with the heroes, so she voluntarily agreed to be dressed as the damsel, meaning there's no real "clothing theft". |

| Sorry if this is old news, but I found this Asian scene while digging around online the other day. It's the best mainstream damsel-in-distress scene I've seen in a long while. A really beautiful Asian woman spends a long, bad day with a bright pink ballgag in her mouth after being kidnapped by hoods, and then just when it looks like she might have a chance at freedom she and the hoods get abducted together by another group of gangsters. |
