| They're not the most attractive looking things but those metal branks are among the most effective gags there are in terms of actual silencing; as there's usually an internal piece that depresses the tongue. Sound is virtually impossible to completely eliminate but these gags do a very good job as do the curved metal "bilboe" style gags favored by Infernal Restraints and their ilk. Massive drool-inducers too of course ;). Kudos to Motherland's makers for the realism. Hopefully one of the modern witch-cuties gets similar treatment later in the film |
