Record number: 11777 Title: Immortel (ad vitam) (2004) aka Immortal (Ad Vitam) Medium: Movie Actress: Linda Hardy Description: This is a French movie with digital and real actors set in a futuristic world and based on a comic book. Jill (Linda Hardy) is a unique kind of a mutant that is being transformed into “full” human by a mysterious character named John. At the beginning of the movie (minute 6) Jill and several other mutants are captured on a police raid. She rebels and fights the guards. One of the guards pulls out a metallic device while another holds Jill on a tight embrace. The shiny device is actually a gag. The gag is shown in detail during slow motion closeups. The anterior arm of the device goes into her mouth. This is connected via a hinged portion to a back arm which contains pneumatic cylinders and is held at the back of her neck. Another thinner arm goes around her skull. Thus, the device only goes half of her face. Once the device is in place it apparently locks and sends signals to the brain so the prisoner is immobilized or subdued. No other restraints are used. In some camera angles we see Jill’s cheek showing a bulge from the portion of the device inside her mouth, She is silenced and subdued and blue tears run down her face. A woman doctor takes interest in her and eventually takes Jill to her lab to study her. At minute 64 she is captured again and the same device is used to hold her lying over a table while a menacing red creature, who obeys the commands of a corrupt Senator, is set to kill her. She is rescued by Horus the mythological Egyptian god (half man and half hawk). |
