Tuesday October 26 05:09:38 2010 Trespass with Nicole Kidman |
New thriller now shooting, in which the main couple (Cage and a very leggy Nicole Kidman) are taken hostage… Nice first pictures! http://www.nkidman.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3246 Let's cross fingers! |

As much as i want to see Kate Beckett get the full treatment the chance is slim cause Beckett is the action girl and Castle isn't a tough guy type so it's highly unlikely that Beckett becomes a DID and Castle comes to the rescue. Although maybe in future Beckett will get bound and gagged. Hopefully. |

She appears to be barefoot in the pictures. She was barefoot in "Birthday Girl", but her feet weren't tied and only visible in long shot. I am crossing my fingers about this one. The guy appears to be tied up in the second picture. I read somewhere that Nicole's face skin has become extremely sensitive lately, so I don't know if she would agree to be gagged, especially seeing as she has already done this twice (the first time being "Batman Forever"). |

But -- that's the perfect set up for a turnaround, any good writer would make something good out of usually tough gal Beckett's falling into a trap, and nervous Castle having to 'man up' and save her. Just like when Chuck found and helped his spy love in the first season (Yvonne Strahovski tape gagged and wrists tied AOH). I honestly don't believe there's a slim chance -- but it's up to the writers who either have (or don't) a predilection to tie up their characters. In that respect, chances may not be that good, as the show is talkier than most, more like a hip "Murder She Wrote" than the new "Hawaii Five-O." |
Tuesday October 26 13:53:35 2010 Penelope Pitstop Movie |
A while ago I suggested Laura Vandervoort of V and Smallville as a potential candidate to play the glamour gal of the gas pedals, Penelope Pitstop, in a movie version. I recall there was real excitement a few years ago that it actually looked set to happen with Reece Witherspoon in the role. There were rumours of location scouting for a tropical island in the Pacific, suggesting the delicious possibilities of crocodile pits and her being tied up in Quicksand, something I would have liked to have seen on the show. Unfortunately the whole thing fell through, and I wonder if it isn't a good thing in light of the whole Dudley Do Right fiasco. Perhaps it occured to the film makers that the series as WE would want to see it, faithfully translated from the source material to the screen, the heroine spending at least 75% of her screen time bound from head to foot in rope, would not a good, or politically correct, movie make. |

Tuesday October 26 18:29:13 2010 Just a Thought |
There is an article on the "front page" of Yahoo mentioning the strong possibility that Univision might overtake the "Big 3" networks, ABC, CBS, and NBC, in ratings within 5 years. Demographic and sociopolitical discussions aside, what does this mean for our little interests? I think it's conceivable that as Univision becomes more prominent in the ratings and advertisers start sending more dollars to them, at least one of the major English networks will adopt a strategy of looking at the programming of Univision and its rival Telemundo as an influence on its own programming. As pointed out on the user comments section under the Yahoo article, Spanish TV has less qualms objectifying beautiful Latinas. For us, this means getting more and better scenes of damselas in distress on its telenovelas. What if the top management at say CBS watch these shows and come to the conclusion of "Let's give our changing audience more melodrama...it's working for those guys at Univision". Reality tv never caught on like it did on the major English networks with the exception of "talent show" reality tv on Spanish networks. Maybe this effectively kills off the reality tv era that just doesn't really produce DiD scenes the way a classic scripted show can. So maybe we're 3-5 years away from a Golden Age...un Edad de Dorado..of damsel in distress scenes. A time where the English networks finally put to rest lame reality tv and too grity crime dramas since they're influences by the new demographics and networks of Spanish speaking audiences. Again just a thought... |

In the episode where he had his daughter duct-tape him to a chair and gag him, he'd explained to his mother that in his next novel "Nikki Heat" was bound to a chair, so he needed to do some first-hand research [on how she'd escape -- how long it would take, etc.]. There's already been a two-episode storyline (the one that climaxed w/ Dana Delany taken captive and held B&g to a chair) where one obsessed fan directly challenged Beckett as Nikki Heat, so it wouldn't be a stretch for a future episode to have an obsessed fan attempt to re-enact the "Nikki Heat in distress" scene. |

See below for an excerpt with the scene. Looks like you can download PDF chapters. Action actually begins in Chapter 6. |
