| Just wanted to add a description of the best scene not mentioned here. The camera pans across Madeleine's arm and then leg which is trembling. The pan is very slow as Madeleine chants "Torture is the policy of tyrants. Pain will only strengthen my will. You can break my body but you cannot break my mind." over and over. Finally the camera pulls to a wide shot as we see she has one arm tied above her head and her ankle tied at a severe upward angle as she is forced to stand on one leg. Based on the pain in her voice and the sweat dripping off her it is implied that she has been forced into that position for some length of time. |
