| Thursday October 26 19:07:30 2017 Entry cleanup, IMDb cross-checking, and date formats |
| So, in addition to the tagging fun, I've realized that it might be a worthwhile project to do some semi-automated cleanup on the other parts of the entries. This could start with things like fixing all the episode titles and numbers that aren't formatted quite right...but there are even more possibilities if we can cross-check against the IMDb, which shouldn't be that hard. I'm planning to play with it over the weekend. Assuming it works out, Mr. Engineer, would you have a way to do a one-time bulk replacement for this data in much the same way you did for the tags? (The fields that would be affected would be Title, Actress, and the first paragraph of the Description when it contains an episode title.) I'm also wondering about dates in titles. It shouldn't be hard to add them for movies when they don't exist. For TV series, the guidelines state, "For TV shows, the date isn't usually listed unless there are multiple series with the title, like Dragnet"...but obviously not everyone plays attention to this, so we could clean that up as well. One thing I realized, though, is that it should also be pretty easy to add the actual year of an episode's premiere, if that's something we were interested in. Thoughts? |
