Tag list?
Mr. Engineer, just wondering if there's been any progress on adding the list of tags to the submission page? It doesn't seem like many of us are using them, but I bet that would change if it were easier to remember which ones are valid.

What would be especially great would be a <select multiple> or set of checkboxes where editors could just click on the tags they wanted...I think you mentioned something like this once? Probably not worth parsing the tags back out to support this for later edits, but it would make the initial submissions a snap and shouldn't be that hard to code.

If you are ready to add the list of tags to the DB add page, I'll just post the current list here for you to grab. If you'd prefer the original word file, I can send that to you also. One final hint to interested parties, if you want to change anything in the list, now is the time to speak up.

Database Tag Definitions:

The format of the tags in database entries is simple. It should follow the text of the entry and after a blank line, the word Tags: (including the colon). Following the colon, include any tags you think appropriate for the entry, separated by commas.

Please remember, the purpose of the tag is to be able to use the search to pull up entries of interest, so the exact spelling is required (including the prefix and underscore, i.e. xxx_yyy).

For searches, the prefix and underscore allow you to search for tag items, and avoid confusing the results with incidental items from the entry text.

Standalone tags:

I forgot about it. I will look it tomorrow.

Hmm. Looks like there are a number of tags that appear in the existing entries but are no longer in this list, sometimes (but not always) because they've been replaced by tags we like more. We're talking about several hundred entries, so once we agree on how to handle them, I'd suggest that we run my remapping script one more (hopefully last) time and that the engineer integrates its output just as before.

* bonddesc_feetspread (124 instances. Should be replaced by bonddesc_legsspread.)

* restraint_metal (114 instances. Should be replaced by restraint_manacles. Almost all of these were mapped from my original "manacles" tag. A few came from a "metal straps" tag -- see #2389 for instance -- but I think restraint_manacles will work for these as well, though a note to that effect would probably be a good idea.)

* restraint_belts (99 instances. This appears to have been replaced by restraint_belt in the new list, but we should probably retain the plural for consistency. Better yet, why not just remap these all into restraint_straps? Belts vs. straps is a pretty fine distinction, and most of these instances were originally mapped from my "leather straps" tag in the first place.)

* carry_misc (35 instances. It looks like this has been replaced by carry_unknown, but I'd argue that carry_misc is better, since most often the carry type is known but simply doesn't fit into the three major categories.)

* gagtype_food (9 instances. Any reason not to preserve this one?)

* gagtype_misc (14 instances. Ditto.)

* bonddesc_straps and bonddesc_wire (35 instances total. These are my bad, since I neglected to change them over when we split off restraint_ from bonddesc_.)

> restraint_tentacle
> restraint_tentacles

Duplicate, so go with the plural.

I don’t have a problem with anything that you’ve brought up. To be specific,
• Yes to bonddesc_feetspread being replaced by bonddesc_legsspread
• Yes to restraint_metal being replaced by restraint_mancles
• Yes to rolling belt(s) into straps (should have been plural all along, but my typing skills seem to be deteriorating these days)
• Yes to carry_misc over carry_unknown. 6 of one, half-dozen of the other to me, but since you have a preference I’ll go with it
• I don’t recall gagtype_food or misc ever coming up before, but as long as they’re there, why not?
• Bonddesc-straps and wire we can change. If you don’t want to run the automatic process again, I’m happy to help do it manually. There aren’t that many, and if we split them up we can synchronize all of them.
• Singular tentacle is another typo on my part. Should have been tentacles all along.

Clean list for Brian follows. If you see anything else that’s slipped in, let me know.
