Yes, all this does happen, but...

Title: Amazons and Gladiators (2001)
Medium: Movie
Actress: Jennifer Rubin, Gabija Danieleviciute, Lauren Wilcox

Description: Romans conquer villages and pick up slaves. In the first 30 min, we see Gabija and Lauren in chains and iron collars awaiting to be sold in the slave markey (sic).

Jennifer Rubin plays an amazon warrior briefly seen in captivity with hands bound in front by a thick rope which she has cut by the soldier who attacks her.

This entry needs a little fleshing out, and one big addition, preferably by someone who has seen the uncut film as opposed to the broadcast-TV edit I saw last night.

First of all, the mother of Serena (Danieleviciute) and Briana (Wilcox), played by an actress not identified in the credits, winds up on Serena's shoulders with a noose around her neck and her hands presumably tied behind her back (they're never shown in the broadcast edit). Their Roman captors make things a bit more interesting by setting coals beneath Serena's bare feet alight and promising that they "may" let her and her mother live if she can manage to hold her up until the sand in an hourglass runs out. Serena's ankles are tied loosely together by perhaps a foot of rope, but as the sequence plays out to its unhappy conclusion, she's revealed to be otherwise unbound. This all begins about six minutes into the version I saw. By the way, the iron collars are briefly visible in the "slave markey" scene a few minutes later, but I didn't see any chains except for those attached directly to them.

And as for Rubin, her scene, which comes at about fifteen minutes, had to have been the Loosie Of the Millennium up to that point. The (not so thick) rope binding her wrists has at least a foot of slack between them.

The movie's out on video, so the truth is out there, so to speak. I'd be inclined to seek it out myself, but I haven't scored any of Hollywood Video's 99-cent rental coupons lately.

[1459] The Palm Beach Story (1942)
Just seen "Palm Beach Story" on TCM, & saw the scene you described in your database query. It appears to me that Ms Colbert isn't dressed in her underwear, but is dressed in a silk wedding gown.
