Hi Brian, hi Gagster,

I just wanted to pass along something I whipped up this morning.

I've long used the legendary database to enhance my efforts on ScreenTies, and lately I've been leveraging [comp stuff] to help normalize and process what I find there. The latest stage of that effort is a tag linter, and the current results are here:

http://didvids.net/raffish/suspect_tags_v1.csv

This CSV contains every tag that didn't match the official tag list, along with suggested replacements where there was an obvious typo. After forgiving some common formatting quirks, it turned up fewer than 1,000 instances across 28,007 records. I thought the report might be useful as a starting point for cleanup or review, and I imagine many of the straightforward fixes could be automated.

I'm also working on normalizing episode metadata from the descriptions, and as that effort matures I'll be happy to share those results as well.

Many thanks, as always, for maintaining such an incredible resource.

I have it downloaded and will review the list. I have to
figure out if it's better for me to work directly on the
file versus editors going through all these. I suspect
so, although I'm not looking forward to either.

I thought at the beginning that a system to integrate
the tags into the software would be a better solution.
I'll show a demo of the concept later.

For now, editors don't do anything.

Re: Tags
Here's something along the lines of what I had thought.
This form is disabled, and I only put in a few example
tags.

https://brianspage.com/database/dbaddtags.html

The problem is that there are so many tags, and that's
not even considering the country tags. We'd also have
to figure out what to do with the editor display.

The other approach is to fix it now and look at a check
mechanism. Like with missing fields, put up an error
of "Unknown tag XYZ".

Re: Tags
Does anyone have a plain list of tags with no annotations or chapter headings? I can make one if not, but if one exists then that would save a step if I make a check routine.
