CORRECTIONS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The correct title of the episode is “Appleby's Garage”. It is season 7, episode 19. In the sketch, Red Skelton's character is named George Appleby. Mary Beth Hughes plays his wife, Clara Appleby. In the sketch, George Appleby is not so much milquetoast as he is goofy. During his confrontation with the villain, George says to Clara (bound and gagged in the open trunk), “Why don't you ride in the back seat like everybody else?” Later, after trapping the villain in the car window, George says to Clara (still bound and gagged in the open trunk), “Get out of there, you look silly.” After that, a police lieutenant and two uniformed officers arrive on the scene. The officers untie and ungag Clara and get her out of the trunk. Unfortunately, the officers are in the background, so we don't get a clear view of their untying and ungagging actions. |
