The Charge at Feather River
Day: Sunday January 28 2018
Time: 10:30 PM Eastern
Channel: Grit
Record number: 1226

Title: The Charge at Feather River (1953)
Medium: Movie
Actress: Vera Miles

Description: Western in which she's one of two sisters abducted by Indians. By the time someone finally gets around to rescuing them five years later, she's grown somewhat accustomed to her surroundings -- to the extent, in fact, that she's about to marry the chief. The rescuers sneak into the tepee she shares with her sister and startle her, forcing one of them to grab her from behind and hand-gag her. Then another wrap-gags her with cloth and the first one throws her over his shoulder and carries her off.

Later, after she makes it clear she'd rather return to the tribe, she gets the standard Western-captive treatment: hands tied in front with a leather thong. Further on, another thong around her ankles (which is hard to see next to her deerskin boots) is added after she gets caught trying to signal the Indians with a piece of a broken mirror during a skirmish.

Near the end of the film, she entices one of the men to untie her by promising to intercede with the chief on his behalf, then clobbers him with a rock and grabs his gun, with which she shoots her brother (Ron Hagerthy) before she slips on a loose rock and falls over a cliff.

Hunter Street

Title: Hunter Street (2017)
Medium: TV Series
Actress: Zoë Harding aka Zoe Harding

Description: Episode: "Sophie" (1.17)

In the previous episode of this Nickelodeon kid's comedy/mystery series, the Hunter kids discover Sophie, a shapely young blonde intruder in their home and lock her in a room with no windows. As the episode opens, two of the older foster siblings, armed with black duct tape and thick rope, enter the room and bind the intruder to an upholstered chair. This being a kid's show, the tying part is down on-screen in an ultra-fast-forward mode. Her wrists are apparently bound behind the chair (though we don't see them) with lots of ridiculously thick rope is neatly wrapped around her chest to secure her. A brief shot shows her ankles are tied as well A couple of strands of rope are wrapped over her shoulders and across her chest. Early in the proceedings she's gagged with the black tape, but it's quickly removed, though one of the characters threatens to gag her again and let her hair get stuck with the adhesive. She remains bound while one kid after the other attempt to find out why she broke into their house. At mid-episode, she's released by the oldest Street boy who's smitten with their captive, but quickly retied on-screen - again in ultra-fast mode. At the end of the episode she escapes with the help of the youngest child.

Sophie (Harding) is a very cute blonde who wears the approved burglar uniform - black turtleneck, tight black jeans. She remains bound for most of the episode and struggles in her bonds when none of the Hunter kids are with her. Much of the comedy comes from the dinner party that the Hunters are throwing while simultaneously trying to question their captive without letting the guests know of her presence. The school solution of gagging her again was never considered.
