| Just watched the 1929 version of Mysterious Island. recorded from TCM. Very interesting mostly silent film with some talking segments, very loosely based on the Jules Verne novel, Mysterious Island. The movie is basically a prequel to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, partially explaining how Count Dakar became Captain Nemo. This version is not listed on IMDB, but there is a Wikipedia article. There is one sequence in the film where the villain is trying to make Count Dakar talk. The Count won't, so the villain reveals his sister, Countess Sonia Dakkar (Jacqueline Gadsden, credited as Jane Daly)] tied to a chair and BIT GAGGED. The Bit Gag is cut off and she is tortured until she passes out. Anybody know of an earlier movie Bit Gag scene ??? |
